This presentation will present four historical examples where Agile techniques were used. Each will focus on specific Agile principles and will make relevant points that can be used by a modern day Agile team. The overall goal is to demonstrate that not only do the principles in the Agile Manifesto work, they work in a HUGE way and have withstood the test of time again and again.
Agile concepts have been a crucial factor in the success of human innovation throughout time. In many instances problems were conquered that involved extreme unknowns where a large, detailed upfront plan was simply impossible. Attainment of success hinged on things such as delivering functionality frequently, sustainable development, and welcoming changing requirements. Agile prospered for them where any rigidly followed plan, no matter how well thought out, would have failed.
It is an unfortunate fact that the vast majority of human project achievement is ignored when it comes to the exploration of learning opportunities for modern team management, Agile and otherwise. This is unfortunate because there are outstanding examples going back to the dawn of history of how people have used advanced management techniques to solve incredibly complex problems. This is especially true when it comes to Agile.
Though originally geared towards the expedient production of quality, shippable software, the principles associated with Agile and iterative techniques have been extremely successful throughout time.
